Self-sabotaging self-talk
Let’s think for a minute about the proudest moment of your life. Let’s pretend for a moment that you just made the winning touchdown on your high school football team. How did you feel? What did you say to yourself? Do I have self-sabotaging self-talk? How do you think you got there? Let’s examine for a minute your self-talk, or maybe the things said to you by those you look up to, like your parents or your coach. This is all energy.
Let’s examine what kind of energy and what effect it can have on the outcome of the play. First, let’s pretend You have great support. Your coach is always telling you how fast you are and how accurate you are in your throws, and you never miss a catch. I wish all my players were this good. How do you think these positive affirmations affect your energy? How do you think this affects your self-talk? When we are complimented and praised, it raises our vibrations and point of positive attraction. It also encourages us to have positive self-talk that reaffirms positive actions as well. This enables us to be successful.
Now let’s look at this from a little less than perspective. Let’s say you did not have the support, or the coach was not noticing you and all your hard efforts. Maybe you are not even living up to your full potential. You have feelings of lack. Feelings of not being quite good enough. How do those feelings affect your self-talk? Could it look something like this?
- I am so stupid.
- I can not even catch the ball.
- I should just quit.
- I am never going to be like jimmy over there making all the touchdowns.
- I am just too slow.
- I don’t even matter to this team.
Do you think self-talk is affecting your performance? When we are feeling really good about something we tend to put more effort into it. We have a stronger drive to succeed. When we have positive affirmations by choice or by others it fires up our neural pathways and makes changes to those areas of the brain that make us happy and positive and that enhances our overall performance. The words we feed our brains affect everything. Especially our self-talk. https://holisticenergyspecialist.com/blog/being-aware-of-self-talk/
How can I change my self-talk?
We can change our self-talk by doing the work of self-love. We can take the time to do processes and be aware of the cause of the negative energy and negative feelings. In my future blogs, I will be teaching you how to shift your energies to more positive ones. How to raise your frequency or vibrations to benefit you and your life. It’s not about huge leaps and bounds but about learning how to train your brain to catch the negative thoughts and reframe them so your entire life changes not just how you play or feel about football. Let’s bring in your best life.
