Being aware of self-talk
There are many ways to change your self-talk. Being aware of self-talk is where you begin. Let’s start with taking a moment to figure out where you are on what we call our emotional guidance scale. On a scale of 1 – 10, 1 being the worst you have ever felt 10 being the very best how do you feel? Now Sit down with a notebook and pen. Write down 3 things that you are saying to yourself that do not contribute to happy feelings.
The reality of this all is that our feelings are our power point of attraction within our body’s energy centers. When we feel good, we think good, at least better. Now you have those three things that do not feel good. Let’s shift them to better-feeling thoughts. Example:
- I will never make a touchdown.
- I am too slow.
- I am never going to be good at football.
None of these statements feel good they sure are not going to help motivate you into being better. When it comes to energy and shifting it, we are not going to jump from a 1 to a 10 in the snap of your fingers, however, you definitely can start the process of raising your vibrations or feelings by practicing regularly, and the more you practice the better you will feel the higher your frequency will get. Let’s shift those three thoughts.
Conscious choice thoughts
We are going to rephrase each negative thought we wrote down into a better-feeling thought. Now it is important to be made feel as believable as possible, otherwise, your subconscious brain will take over and be like Yeah, Right fat chance. A small shift is better than no shift at all.
- I will never make a touchdown.
- There are other things that I am good at.
- It takes the entire team to be good. I am part of that team!
- I am too slow.
- I can change my speed.
- I am only stuck at this speed if it is what I choose.
- I am never going to be good at football.
- With practice, I can improve greatly.
- I can ask for help.
Now, this is just an example. The point here is for you to reach for better-feeling thoughts for whatever issues you are dealing with and feel just a little bit better. This is what we call our point of attraction.
Point of attraction
This is the level at which our energy is vibrating. So let’s look back. When I asked you to check in and rate yourself on a level of 1-10. After doing this exercise you will need to check in again and see where you are. Optimally you will have shifted up the scale a few points by at least 1. Feeling a little better. Like I said before this is a process, and it may take some practice. However, every little bit counts. Our goal is to keep feeling a little better and the universe will match our better-feeling thoughts with even better-feeling thoughts. This is known as the law of attraction and it is continuously working for us.
