Do any of you ever wake up feeling overwhelmed with life?

Do any of you ever wake up feeling overwhelmed with life? You remember all the stuff you must do, and you just want to hide under the covers and not come out? That feeling is all too well known for many of us but thankfully you do not have to ever feel this way. It is a choice.

Did you know that our thoughts create our emotions? Since we have total control over our thoughts (I know it might not feel like it sometimes), you also have the power to start your day on a super positive note each and every day. I am going to share with you some ways to help you get in the right mindset to help you shift into a more positive attitude that will shift your entire day.

Thoughts create emotions. Happy thoughts create happy emotions. It is super simple but it is so true – think about the things you love to do that make you happy. Just visualizing doing something that makes you happy is bound to make you actually feel happier in return. It can be as simple as visualizing your children laughing or petting your four-legged friend. Anything that makes you feel happy!

Gratitude is one of the most important practices. It is easy to get caught in the cycle of negative thinking and eventually forgetting how good you actually have it.  It is a great morning practice to spend some time listing 5 things you are grateful for. You may want to start a morning journal it shifts your whole mindset, and your day becomes so much brighter. I personally Journal 5 things every morning.

Example of 5 things to be grateful for:

I am grateful for the sun shining through my window warming me as I read my morning affirmations.

I am grateful for Sitting in the quiet drinking my coffee with my sweet 4-legged friends.

I am grateful for the ability to be able to reflect on the positive things in my life.

I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with my mom and show her unconditional love during the death of her sister this week. (not such an easy one)

I am grateful for the air that I am able to breathe so freely and my health.

It can be remarkably simple things and often they shift your entire day into one filled with happiness. So I highly recommend you get a journal one that is appealing to you, makes you smile. Mine has flowers and says she believed she could, so she did. It makes me smile and starts my day in the right direction.

Another thing that helps shift your mind is meditation.

Making meditation a part of your routine can be a real life-changer! Not only will you feel more peaceful and centered, but you will also feel more in tune with your body and your surroundings. Do not worry if you are not a seasoned meditator. Meditation is not just sitting cross-legged humming “Ommmm” – you can do so much more, including dance meditation, mindfulness techniques, hypnosis, Affirmations. I love YouTube for this. There are lots of ways to bring meditation into your life. Explore it. Do what makes you feel happy!

Ask yourself “How can I make this day amazing?”

It is a simple question, but it is so powerful. By simply asking yourself “How can I make today amazing?” you make yourself realize that you are in control of how your day goes and how you feel about it. Then, do things to make it amazing!

Journal

You could write them in your journal, or you could just recite them as you get ready for work or drive to work or while you are going for your morning jog.

We must realize we are in control of how and what we think this helps release unwanted anxieties from creeping in. I also encourage you to do any of these things if you just find yourself having a bad day. Just start looking for simple things to be grateful for. It will help shift your mindset to a more positive one. The things we think about come about.
